Studio Brief 01 - Colour management
An induction on colour management proved useful in understanding the process of professional printing, especially if it's outsourced externally. Having the colours of the work match the colour profiles of the printer will produce the best possible colour composition, reduce errors in printing, reduce costs and will produce a better relationship between client and printer. This was something I did not know prior to the induction could explain the differences in colour reproduction in OUGD404's Studio Brief 02 publication which was printed externally.

In this spread in the publication it was noticeable that the reproduction of the black was not as consistent as the other spreads. The black was faded and resembled more of a dark grey. What was also touched on in the induction was the conversion of images from RGB to CMYK within a document. Understanding that InDesign does not convert the images automatically, it is a key aspect to note of to limit incorrect colour reproduction. Overall the induction better prepared me for the process of sending work off to printing externally.
