By altering the arrangement of the subjects, the tone of voice of the photograph is altered as well as how the viewer sees the subject . When arranged in a more structured an orderly manner, the tone of the photograph is more serious as supposed to unrestrained arrangement that views the subject as more of a casual matter. Photographing the subject at different angles also allows for the viewer to see more of the design and allows the product to be "shown off".
Photographing the individual subjects gives more emphasis on the subject's design as compared to them as a whole. In effect it allows the viewer to fully appreciate the subject's details.
The problem with the initial selection of photos however, was the white balance. The photos had a much colder temperature than what I saw in real life. To rectify this, a white balance configuration was done by placing a grey card prior to get the camera to show the accurate colour. As a result the photos look better and show off the subjects more accurately to what we see in real life. Colour accuracy is an important aspect when photographing products as you want the viewer to visualise the product as true to what they will get in real life. During this experiment as well, the addition of a white card opposite to the light source created a more rounded image as the light bounces off and as a result creates less shadows in the picture. Using a white card as a light diffuser however will start to be problematic when using reflective surfaces as the white card may be seen in the surface of the subject. The colour of the background also effects the way we see the subject. The details of the jugs are much more prominent against the black background as the surface colour contrasts highly as compared to the white background. For taller subjects, a portrait photo may be better to accentuate the height.
