These are the colours we associated with the Spaghetti Western genre. We usually think of the desert plains that encapsulate the atmosphere that surround the characters thus we chose shades of brown to reflect that. For the unconventional thoughts of Western, we thought of the blood drenched wanted posters and the sun bleached desert ground.

For Romance we thought of the usual connotations of roses given to loved ones and the red heart symbols. The muted tones of purple and blue are chosen to represent the sad moments in romance with purple representing a muted red and blue to represent sadness.

The Science Fiction genre is usually associated with connotations of deep space and aliens. Go into the horizon and using futuristic technology. Therefore the shade of blue is reminiscent of the abyss that is space a is usually used on the book covers. Green is referring to the colour usually associated with aliens and is related to the futuristic technology, like in Star Wars with the green light saber.
The colours against the usual thought of the Science Fiction genre are the colours of spaceships and the actual colour of space.

When we thought of crime the usual connotations is the bloodshed caused by the murders and the mysterious, underground society that is associated with the drug rings and organised crime. The lesser known associations are the dimly lit streets and grimy, seedy atmosphere that comes with dealing in crime, hence the dirty orange and dark brown.
