Saul Bass's irregular typographic forms, sharply drawn haphazard style of illustration and his use of black all combine to create a disconcerting and unnerving visual look. Reading through the events of In Cold Blood, Saul Bass's style would be an appropriate way to capture the intensity, suspense and mystery of the novel. The danger however is creating a design that emulates his style. This would not be the best solution as emulating someone doesn't show an original thought process. What can be taken and applied however is the visual techniques that Bass uses to evoke ominous undertones.
