Another glaring factor is how the magazines are never the center of attention for the reader. The placement and size of the magazine is overshadowed by the surrounding white space, making the content feel unimportant. This lowers the user experience as the antcipation and excitement of reading the magazine is lowered. In physical copies, holding the magazine alone becomes a point of focus which is then taken over by the magazines content. The unpopularity of online magazine sites are that they offer a sub par reading experience that is unappropriated to how we interact with digital screens. A solution can be made to get the reader more involved, just as the way we get involved in using a computer or tablet.

Studio Brief 02 - The problem with on screen magazines
Issuu.com is a website that allows readers to access a huge database of online magazines for viewing. Their magazines range from Arts & Entertainment to Religion & Spirituality.
Their definition of how onscreen magazines should be read is to directly mirror the reading style of a physical magazine. This does not translate well for user experience as the content becomes far more difficult to read The reading experience feels unnatural and shows how it is not designed how you would interact with a screen. The overall experience is reduced to button clicking.
