Greyboard cover

For the front and back cover of the publication, we experimented with the idea of using grey board as it would give structure and provide a solid base for the reader to flip the large A2 pages.

Front Cover

For the front cover's design, we sought to demonstrate the various weights of Univers that make the typeface so characteristic. Forming each line of univers with the different weights make for a engaging typesetting, which not only highlights the weights but demonstrates how they can be used together despite their differences.

Back cover
The back cover doesn't necessarily follow a design. The scrambling of type across the page is a free expression of showcasing Univers.

In order to allow for the type to deboss onto the grey board, it had to be soaked in water for a minute to make it pliable. We initially tried to do a dry deboss, however the impressions of the type were far to shallow to make it readable.

The impressions made on the soaked grey board are much stronger, however it has slightly torn its texture.

The biggest issue as a result of soaking the grey board was that it buckled after drying. This created a problematic reading experience where the board would not fully turn over, subsequently ruining the experience of having two flat A2 pages for the reader to see.
