The colour reproduction itself had some issues too, especially in the Dior section and Raf Simons/Sterling Ruby. In the Dior pages the flower wall is too deep of a colour as compared to the colour reproduced on screen in InDesign. It does not reflect the elegance of the brand that I wanted to convey. In the Raf Simons/Sterling Ruby pages, the blacks are faded which completely changes the colour composition of the spread and reduces the overall quality. This is strange because of the deep black that were produced in the following spreads after it.
The stock used in this print is much thicker than the ones used in the test prints. The smooth coated stock gives the publication a more professional and substantial feel as compared to for example the publication made for studio Brief 01, but it does not entirely convey the experimental aims. These stocks were provided be the external printing company used for the publication. Regardless of this, more experimentation should have been done on how the content interacts with stock and how stock can influence the final outcome. Too much time was put into designing the content when there should have been a balance between the two.
Fortunately the binding method does hold up to the thicker stock used in this print which is the deciding factor in constructing the publication.
