This spreads layout is meant to communicate the fashion house's ethos of modernist, minimal design.
The spread is designed with a clean and crisp visual keeps the elements 'tight' on the page. The choice to have the runway images translucent is to reflect on the repetitive and consistent design treatment that the house portrays. The silhouettes are clean and understated, the colours are predominantly black and if there is any, muted tones of green or brown are used. Even the models use the same walk in displaying the collection. This inspired the design decision to view the collection as repeated images because of how consistent the design treatment is. The layout of the images themselves were done so that the reader has a glimpse of each outfit, rather than overlaying one atop another which would have produced an undesired effect.
The copy of the spread was done in Futura to reflect the brands logo type. By changing the font used within each section apart from Simons own brand, it helps give the reader something new to look at. Because there is quite a lot of type on the page, seeing the same font can become tedious and boring, so to help refresh the readers interest, a different type is used.
