There were also thoughts of adding colour to the prints.
This was inspired by a visit to the App Store. Even though it may seem like a uncreliable source to base colour choices surrounding a eco conscious theme, what the App Store has is exposure. Millions of people in the world have iPhones today, that means millions of people view the App Store. Therefore millions of people are being exposed to the colour choices used in representing the eco conscious idea. With this constant exposure, it means people identify being eco conscious with these colours. Thus to colour the notes in similar colours would help the evoke the theme more effectively to the viewer.
Feedback was also received on this thought. The overall consensus was to keep with the existing black colour scheme. What works about this colour scheme is the high contrast is offers against the coloured stock. This high contrast makes the design stand out more, which is beneficial for the designs impact since there is no variation in colour. Existing notes today have variations of colour which add depth to the design. Having a high contrast compensates for this lack of depth and allows the design to highlight the stocks unique characteristic. Furthermore the monotone design relates to the idea of the note saving on ink as well.
